How The Oil & Filter Change Works

At Team Ryan Automotive, we do not do oil changes. We perform oil services. This includes a new oil and oil filter, our complimentary Safety and Reliability Inspection, and a free tire rotation. Don’t worry, if you do not want or need your tires rotated just let us know and we will leave them in the same place.

Our oil services are very affordable. We did this intentionally to give you an inexpensive low-risk opportunity to experience the service we offer. With this, we only ask for one thing in return, and that is to be your full-time mechanic. All of Team Ryan Automotive’s locations are full-service facilities, which means no job is too large or too small. If at any point in time, we are not on track to being your full-time mechanic we ask that you let us know so we can address whatever may need to be done.

What Our Customers Are Saying

What Causes The Need To Change Engine Oil & Filters?

Over time, as oil becomes saturated with contaminants, excess particles are left behind in the engine, where they can form deposits and cause significant wear to the engine. Oversaturated oil loses its lubrication, which will eventually lead to an overworking engine, excess heat, and engine failure.

Excessive heat can also lead to thermal breakdown in your engine oil, causing a change in the oil’s viscosity as well as resulting in decreased oil flow. Similarly, dirty oil flows more slowly, causing the engine to work harder. This leads to increased engine wear.

Continuous oil changes are basic maintenance for your car. Think of it like when you go to the doctor for a check-up. There is nothing wrong with you at that moment, but visiting your doctor on a regular basis helps you stay healthy for longer. They will help you make healthy choices, educating you on areas where you need to work. Perhaps helping you steer clear of potentially threatening illnesses.

The same can be said for your vehicle. An oil change allows your car to stay healthy and functional for longer. It will help you steer clear of more expensive repairs that could result if an oil change is ignored.

How To Know If Your Oil Or Filter Systems Need Changing

Most vehicles have an indicator light that illuminates when it is time for an oil change. However, different vehicle manufacturers have different recommendations when it comes to oil change intervals.

In the past, oil changes were usually recommended every 3,000 miles. Now, with modern and synthetic lubricants, oil changes are recommended anywhere from 5,000 - 15,000 miles! Even with the continued advancement of today’s lubricants, the demands of today's engines seem to advance at the same rate, or even faster! Team Ryan Automotive almost always recommends oil changes at 5,000 miles to help you keep your vehicle driving for as long as possible.

Oil Change FAQ

Oil Change FAQ

How Long Can You Really Go Without An Oil Change?

You should never go over the recommended mileage for oil changes. Be sure to stay on top of your oil changes to ensure the longevity of your car.

We typically recommend that you get your oil changed every 5,000.

What Happens If You Don’t Change Your Oil?

If your oil isn’t changed for a considerable amount of time, it could cause major problems with your engine, resulting in major repairs or even engine replacement.

Can You Put Oil In Without An Oil Change?

While it is always a good idea to check your oil between oil changes and add as necessary this should never replace the actual oil change service. Part of an oil change consists of draining the old oil out of your engine. Think of this as “taking out the trash” as all the contaminants suspended in the old oil get drained out also. This needs to happen to keep your engine healthy.

What Happens During An Oil Change?

During an oil change, the old oil is drained out of the vehicle before being replaced with new oil. Your oil filter will also be replaced during this time.
