Team Ryan Automotive: Our Work With North Gwinnett Kiwanis

Team Ryan Automotive has supported local students and families through North Gwinnett Kiwanis, school programs, and community fundraising. That involvement has included scholarship fundraising, sponsorship of the Father Daughter Valentine Dance, and sharing opportunities to support local youth through the club's golf tournament.

Our community work also includes North Gwinnett Co-op. These activities connect our shop with the schools, families, and organizations around Buford and the North Gwinnett area.

Scholarships for Local High School Students

In April 2018, we took part in the North Gwinnett Kiwanis Vidalia onion fundraiser. The sale helped the club raise money for scholarships for local high school seniors. Customers, neighbors, and friends were invited to take part, with the goal of helping students continue their education after graduation.

The onion sale was one of several fundraising projects described in our early Kiwanis posts. The club also raised money through a winter Father Daughter Valentine Dance and a fall golf tournament.

Supporting School Clubs and Student Service

The club's school programs described in our 2017 update included Key Clubs at Mill Creek, Buford, North Gwinnett, and Lanier high schools. Kiwanis members worked with students and faculty advisers on community service projects. Students who helped with the Vidalia onion sale received a share of the proceeds for their clubs' service work.

That update also described support for K Kids clubs at Ivy Creek Elementary and Burnette Elementary. Through these school programs, younger children and high school students had opportunities to volunteer and help their neighbors.

Community Events and Fundraising

The Father Daughter Valentine Dance

Team Ryan Automotive sponsored the Kiwanis Father Daughter Valentine Dance and shared the event with customers in 2017. Dan Ryan also completed the Bone Frog Challenge in the fall of 2016 as part of a fundraising effort for the dance. The race combined a half marathon with 56 obstacles. Our original post thanked everyone who sponsored his effort. You can read more about that fundraiser in our 2016 Buford shop history .

The 2017 Fall Classic Golf Tournament

Later in 2017, we shared the North Gwinnett Kiwanis Fall Classic Golf Tournament as another way to raise funds for local youth. The event was scheduled for September 26, 2017, at Lanier Islands Legacy Golf Course. The club's fundraising projects supported school clubs, scholarships, and other local organizations.

These were past events, but they remain part of the shop's history of participating in community projects.

North Gwinnett Co-op and Other Local Organizations

North Gwinnett Co-op is among the organizations listed on our community involvement page. The North Gwinnett Kiwanis fundraising activities described in our 2017 post also supported the Co-op, Boy Scouts, Girls State, Gwinnett Children's Shelter, and scholarships for high school seniors.

Kiwanis meetings brought local organizations together, too. At a 2017 meeting , we heard from Beauty and Soul about its work providing back-to-school haircuts and basic care supplies for girls whose families needed that support.

Working With Our Neighbors

In 2018, local Kiwanis clubs gathered at Suwanee City Hall for a Governor's Rally welcoming a new Johns Creek chapter. The photograph below comes from our post about that gathering.
